Recipe for Yesterday's Delicious Cupcakes!!!

Hello sweet, sweet world!

I just wanted to take a second to welcome you to our food blog! Shalane and I have been talking for a while about wanting to start a food blog/vlog about savory and sweet eating; we're such fans of food! So here it is, maybe in it's elementary stage, but we've started it, and we will be updating it at least once a week, if not more, as both a team, and as individual lovers of dear old comida. A bit about us: we're both currently based in Vancouver, BC and we both love to take advantage of the wonderful eating opportunities that the city has to offer. Because we're a melting pot, we can throw a stone and arrive at delicious sushi, Chinese, Italian, Greek, or anything from anywhere else, really.

Shalane studies design and communications, while I studied English Lit and music composition...which, as you can tell, is not food related at all...but we all have our hobbies! We thank you for dropping by, and we hope that you will continue to follow our shenanigans  We'd love suggestions, questions, comments, and responses. We might even make them a part of the blog! Look forward to our photos and our videos coming soon, and for THIS post, I'd love to share with you the recipe for the cupcakes we made for my friend Samantha's birthday. Here goes!

1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar (not packed)

1 3/4 cup flour

3/4 cup cocoa powder

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs

1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil

2 tsp vanilla
1 cup boiling water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Fill muffin pans with 24 cupcake liners.  Sift dry ingredients into a mixing bowl.  (I recommend a batter bowl to easily pour the batter into the cupcake liners).  Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla.  Beat with a mixer for about two minutes, occasionally scraping the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula.  Add the boiling water, and beat, just until blended.  (Don't be alarmed - the batter appears watery).  Evenly ladle (or pour) the batter into the liners.  Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the center of the cupcakes springs back when lightly touched.  Cool and frost.
We got this recipe from one of my personal favorite blogs that can be found at the following URL:
